I make software to interop. Working on a new web designed for writers and readers and in place of HTML we use Markdown. Keep it super simple. The big undo.

I don’t think the LeBron trade is going to work. Too many personalities. Who’s the boss man of that team? Almost every one has a legit claim.

Someone should write the Occam‘s razor guide to American politics. Probably would be about 20 pages long and irrefutable.

How can you tell you’re working on the web?

When you do something new and innovative you help your competitors‘ users without forcing them to use your product.

They are free to stay where they are and still get the benefit.

People only choose yours because it’s better for what they’re doing.

One thing we know for sure is that the AIs are incredible amplifiers of programmer creativity, and they’re getting better at that every month.

So the question is, will AI become as useful to users who are not programmers?

That’s what at least some of the programmers are working on.

Just found this piece.

https://buttondown.com/blog/rss-vs-ice

"The New York Times, a publisher that should have been firmly in ICE’s wheelhouse, adopted RSS in November 2002. ICE limped on, however, with the authoring group releasing version 2.0 in 2004."

They liked our pitch. Really simple. ;-)

I have a feeling we’re all going to spend the rest of our lives cleaning up the mess that was created by Twitter, that is if we want to ever achieve the freedom promised by the web before Twitter came along and pretty much ruined it.

Always explaining vision of RSS.chat. A post I just wrote. If we had continued developing around RSS after 2002, this is where we would have gone. Feeds as the basis for social interaction on the web. It's still way better than trying to replace the web.

In rss.chat land we're in the business of connecting big things with each other using the web.

Yesterday we came out with an example app that connects a writer with a WordPress blog.

WordPress has all the hooks to be the place where text and publishing meet on the web.

Just finished The Expanse for the third time.

Realized that the inners of today are Silicon Valley and the Belters, that’s the web.

Here's the story of RSS.chat.

The bootstrap is starting now.

The web itself is a social network. Start small and build, and leave lots of space for others. Small pieces loosely joined, all parts replaceable.

I've done these bootstraps before, btw. ;-)

FWIW, they’re just reinventing the web only more complex.

Come join us in the web, the water is cooool. 🤓

A story about I've been working on since April with Claude.

Also I've been writing about it non-stop on my blog, and yesterday there was a podcast. I think this is going to change what people think about the "social web." At least that's the intention. ;-)

Stop thinking of a "network" as a big thing.

They can be small too, the same software works, but the priorities are different.

They have moral parades on Bluesky too, but this was from 2016, about how ineffective they are and how voting your issues is where the power is. Too long to fit here, sorry.

Hitler had the privilege of hosting the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and I don’t recall any stories about him trying to rig the games so that the Germans won or that someone else lost so we are definitely in new territory.
