My pink LP of #TheDearHunter’s new album Sunya finally arrived!
It's #PortfolioDay, and for once I'm also going to partake by sharing a few of my photos. I am a photographer and I shoot predominantly on film. I enjoy the slow and tactile process, and I love the grain. I try to take pictures of things I find beautiful or meaningful. You can see more of my work on my website:

Need more pictures of #plushtodon to improve mental health (#blåhaj will also do).
Normally I'd be more excited about a moon mission, but I'd vastly prefer if any other nation was doing it. Can't really care about it when the US is bombing civilian bridges in Iran and then bombing the first responders (and as of today, apparently announcing genocide. Not their first time, I guess).
I missed the #Heilung tour last year and this year it looks like they're not touring 😦

This is not acceptable, plain and simple.
#TheDearHunter's North American Tour 2023 has just been uploaded to YouTube so #Gleeb can finally enter *your* collective consciousness too.

I want everyone to see my cartoon son.
The duality of cat. My handsome boy.
She looks so fluffy in this picture. She is actually quite small and lean.
#TheDearHunter's new album, Sunya, is out now. May need to wait until after midnight depending on your timezone, or trick time with a VPN.
Just rewatched Dreamworks' Sinbad, which I have only seen once as a kid. It's such a good movie! Beautifully animated. It should be up there with Titan A.E. and Treasure Planet.

10 years today.

Anyone in #BelieveInFilm interested?
I know 100% that people will argue with me over this, but I miss when movies were professionally lit, when actors were intentionally blocked, and when more than teal, orange and beige were allowed to be on the screen. The medium has something to do with it--film made a lot of these things fundamentally necessary--but I think it's more complex than just that. The last few years' movies are just not pleasant to look at, with very few exceptions, and the change occurred sometime around 2015.
Has anyone received their "I write alt text" t-shirt yet? I'd love to see some pictures / hear some feedback 🙂
New single from #TheDearHunter's upcoming album Sunya came out today.
#DevinTownsend’s The Moth now has a release date: May 29. Album is up for pre-order. Secured myself the vinyl. One single is up on streaming platforms today as well.
Technology is not inevitable. We've decided not to have asbestos in our walls, lead in our pipes, or carginogenic chemicals in our food. (If you're going to argue that it's not everywhere, where would you rather live?) We could just not do LLMs. It's allowed.
From what I've observed, people who claim that LLMs can replace artists don't understand art, people who claim that they can replace musicians don't understand music, people who claim that they can replace writers don't understand literature, and people who claim they can replace translators don't rely on translations. If I had a button that would erase LLMs from the world but it would take machine translations away (which is a false dichotomy anyway), I would absolutely still press it.
I have the impression that primarily anglophone people don't read as much translated literature, because so much good literature already exists in their language, so this issue may not be as familiar within that demographic. As someone who did not grow up anglophone, I can tell you there is a world of difference between a good and a bad translation even when done by humans. Machine translations are not even on the scale.
Machine translations are often brought up as a gotcha whenever I criticize LLMs. It's worth pointing out two things: Machine translations existed decades before LLMs, and yes, machine translations are useful. However: I would never in my life read a machine translated book. Understanding what a social media post is talking about in rough terms? Sure. Literature? Absolutely not. Hell, have you ever seen machine translated subtitles? It's absolute garbage.

This is what they took from us.

C'est trop mignon!
I feel like in the last couple media interviews I’ve done after stepping down as CEO I’ve done a much better job communicating the vision and importance of the fediverse than I’ve ever done before, which is ironic but maybe logical? Brain work better when less pressure?

There won't be any more new merch for a couple months at least, I need to sell these out before I can make more stuff like the beanies.
