We’ve updated a number of themes for better compatibility with Hugo 0.158. We recommend the latest version of Hugo now in almost all cases. Only stick with an older version if you have custom templates or plug-ins that require an older version.

In the web editor, when you select some text and paste a URL, it now turns it into a Markdown link.

For podcast episodes in the timeline, the Bookmark link now changes to Listen Later, which adds the episode to a new Bookmarks → Listen Later tab. There’s also an RSS feed so you can listen to all queued “listen later” episodes in your podcast player.

Continuing the migration to more recent versions of Hugo, the default for new users is now Hugo 0.158. There are performance optimizations for 0.158, so update if your theme is compatible. Most should be.

Improved the phrasing of summaries across blog posts in the Reading Recap feature of Inkwell, available for Micro.blog Premium subscribers.

Added a new “Edit Domain” button at the top of some pages, to nudge people into adding their own domain name if they are using a micro.blog subdomain.

Inkwell 1.5.2 for macOS is available with minor improvements and bug fixes. Choose “Check for Update” to download the latest version.

Fixed some potential issues with post sorting in Inkwell when dates are in the future. Also an issue with the Fading tab being blank.

Released version 4.1 of Micro.blog for Mac, adding a new photo picker for attaching photos in new posts. Also updated the Bookmarks pane for Micro.blog Premium to add tabs for highlights and saved links.

Updated the built-in Sumo theme to the latest version for new users. We are also going to be migrating to a more recent version of Hugo, slowly.

Added a new “Manage Payment Methods” button under Account → View Subscription, to remove old credit cards that Stripe still has on file. There’s also a “Remove Unused Payment Methods” button to wipe everything else out except the default card or bank info.

Last month our EU hosting provider had an outage that caused us to redirect some traffic to the US to avoid downtime for serving photos from the EU. For photo uploads that weren’t copied to the EU during that time, we’ve restored them. All CDNs are back to normal. 🇪🇺
