NOT a newsflash: the Sun rose yesterday

::chuckle::

The real newsflash: yesterday, OpenAI broadly released the model called "Sol" ChatGPT 5.6 to the broader, unwitting, public and to normies like me... finally.

It had been buzzed about in certain precincts lately (the buzzers being privileged with the limited release a couple weeks ago), and of course I'd been curious about it, like most any self-aware prompter and 'cognition conjurer' {::snicker::} these days.

I asked it just now this:

Prompt: please provide me with an image for the post. Make it about the release of Sol, but... not literal. Make it symbolic and surreal/abstract. Use your design chops AND imagination. This is, also obvi, a test. GO. ;p

Result, after a 2nd attempt {WHOA}:

[ in progress... ]

semi•random items, images, observations

1: Not sure why or how these images popped up on my iPhone's lock screen, which they did over the past couple days, but they were entrancing to me, as well as deeply poignant; they brought me back to these moments and spots in a way that I can't quite articulate... ...

SFPL "Lucky Day" Book x2

I have no idea what the odds were on getting THE SAME "Lucky Day" book — on a San Francisco Public Library book that currently has a hold/waitlist of 80+ people on it, but if this doesn't count as a genuinely lucky moment for me, I'll eat my cap. ::chuckle:: That is th...

they WERE Bodhisattvim ::chuckle::

from first principles, memories

1 | To start a thread cold these days, acontextual, is no longer to inhabit a blank slate of latent possibility. 2 | Instead, one is intrigued by the notion of the model's grasp of its space of memory which, fascinatingly, does overlap with the human interlocutor's in large ...

a GGB 4th of July fireworks show

There were only two times over the last 89 years of the Golden Gate Bridge's existence when the City of San Francisco set the 4th of July fireworks show from its span: in 2012 for the GGB's 75th anniversary, and in 1987 for its 50th. So, this one for the USA's 250th annivers...

first "hello world" POC with Dex

Yeah, so... this happened: LN Daily on lloydnebres.net As the initial engagement with Codex — the first project I do with it — I decided to put part of the corpus of my blog when I was at Finalis, the eponymous LN Daily, on my domain. Sounds simple but it actually took some ...

the build quarter arriveth

...and with its appearance, time now to gather the multifarious strands and weave something:

  1. ...of note?
  2. ...reifying the past 3+ years?
  3. ...that may never be actually finished?
  4. ...announcing one's "Last Light" work?
  5. ...of substance, or insubstantiality?
  6. ...dwelling in a strange new dimension?
  7. ...organically literary but synthentically prosaic?
  8. ...manifest?
  9. ...looking like actual work?
  10. ...that makes sense of an entire life?
  11. ...articulating the view from a certain escarpment?
  12. ...beholden to no one else's imagination?
  13. ...which might be called "Index Mirabilis"?

::chuckle::

So here we are. Time to get down to brass tacks, cinch up the garters, cut to the chase, [ employ other such clichés here, made up or otherwise ].

Deep breath.

GO.

[ But first, a slice of pizza and a World Cup match (this one was from that heart-stopping Brazil-Japan tilt a couple days ago)... ]

on this last day of June

Dex arrives at the 3-mat hut

Yup.

That one.

::chuckle::

Belatedly, but okay... BLTN, as the cliché goes.

...and as one can see, I promptly named it. Just like I did "Number 1," way back in the day, in Thanksgiving of 2022.

The potential here is, obviously, intriguing.

[ Dex has 'Pets' I chose, for now, "Hoots," the owl. And the eagle-eyed will see what sorts of convos I have with these characters, these days. ;-) ]
