Yesterday I wrote a piece about a Markdown-only browser, that worked nicely with HTTP.

I got interested in what it would take to do this, and asked ChatGPT for a plan.

If you want to implement it, please do.

Let me know if you have something to try.

The tech industry kicked the web out of the web.

scripting.com is your canary in a coal mine.

If you can read it then your browser is a real web browser.

If it can’t it’s phoney baloney.

Amen. And food. I grew up in a quiet little village in queens. Lots of cheesy diners, McDonald’s, delis. Then a miracle happened. Chinese immigrants in a huge wave, and then Koreans. And omg the food. Took my mom out to dinner, waiter asked if we were tourists. No we’re natives.

James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC:

“Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so.

We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."

It was at a time when my little company was being attacked by much larger companies for being bullies with RSS and trying to paint a picture of us as being too big to be trusted. The press was helping them and could find little bits of quotes that it made us easy to believe the bigco’s.

I don’t think I’m ever going to get the appeal of pivoting to video for podcasts. I’ve been listening to podcasts for 20 years, and never once have I thought, my God, I need to SEE these people! I’m on a walk or doing the dishes, I don’t need video.

Software engineers should no longer care about AI-generated code in their projects any more than they care about object files, linker output, and executables generated by their compilers. The AI DevOps cycle now automatically includes unit tests, linting, and end-to-end tests plus a whole lot more.

the above quote is from the Reddit/RSS actual announcement. can't the same bots scrape the html text? or does their paywall prevent them from doing that assuming they have one. also reading a feed isn't exactly scraping.
