Cleaned up the last wire for the stairs motion sensors. Cut out a little box and drilled a hole in a blank faceplate. Much better!

The giant backup battery for the house arrived! It weighs almost 100 pounds. Now I just need to make some cables to attach it to the house power inlet!

I decided today would be a good day to hang the vertical monitor that will eventually be the home automation dashboard. I found a monitor that fills the available space. Next I need to get an HDMI over ethernet extender so I don't have to put a raspberry pi on the wall.

Today I prepped for the drywall crew to come and patch up the walls in the utility closet. I moved the network wires inside the wall to a new location so there will be less exposed wires in the inside, and also moved the fiber cable into the ceiling so it isn't awkwardly draped through the room.

Busy day at the triplex today! The plumber came to finish up everything inside: Hung the mount for the bathtub spray head Attached the mixer valve for the shower Attached the pole for the shower head Moved the spigot for the roof mister Moved the sewer line for the loft to the lower sewer line the guys added a few months ago. That means no more pump for the laundry room sink and washer needed anymore! I also found cat5e wires in the utility room closet that were for the phone jacks in the loft, so I traced them and terminated them with network jacks so now there’s a network jack in the loft! Why didn’t I find this years ago? I just assumed it was cat3 wiring because it was for a phone. I’m also tackling some loose ends in the house, a few dangling network jacks I hadn’t finished yet. The drywaller finished the utility closet so I can put everything back together! Oh and the cleanup crew came and took out a bunch of trash and also took the temporary power pole!

Unsurprisingly, it took me literally all day to get the network closet back up and running! But this time it is much more neatly organized. I added a 12-port patch panel in the corner that all the building runs terminate into. Half of these were from the 2019 studio buildout, the other half I've added over the years, with pretty messy cable runs through the space. Now they are all neatly tucked inside the wall and terminated into this patch panel! I then started rebuilding the rack, and made custom length cables for the 12 connections. One end is an rj45 jack, the other end is a keystone connector for the rack patch panel. By the end of the day I was able to get all the gear back in the rack! I know it still looks a bit messy but believe me this is far better than it was before I started this!
