JD Vance: We're 'Really In The Middle Of The War' With Iran

But his boss has continually been telling us we already "won" since this evil debacle started.

VP JD Vance made an appearance on this weekend's Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany on Fox, and was asked by Trump's former spokesliar about how things are going with Iran. Vance proceeded to tell McEnany that we're "really in the middle of the war" they originally claimed was going to be over within days.

MCENANY: And there was big news that you were in the Senate this week. You went to a lunch with senators. Iran dominated the conversation. So I was hoping you could give us a readout of that meeting.

While Americans Struggle, Trump Obsesses On Covering Up Lincoln Pool Failure

Last month, Chris Hayes perfectly summed up Trump’s effort to scapegoat an innocent American for his own $17 million, reflecting pool epic failure. Last week, Trump’s U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, had no choice but to drop felony charges against ex-Olympian David Hearn and admit the damage to the pool was done by Trump’s own, no-bid contractor.

Instead of moving on and addressing the real problems facing Americans, Trump can’t stop throwing temper tantrums over the wound to his tender fee-fees.

On Friday, Trump demanded Pirro “revisit” the dropped charges. In addition to sticking to his original lie that accused former Olympian David Hearn vandalized the pool, Trump’s psychotic rage suggested Hearn’s supposedly liberal politics is “evidence” of his guilt:

“One day, baby, we’ll be old. And think of all the stories that we could have told.” I first heard those lyrics attached to a Lord of the Rings TV promo. Not exactly where you’d expect to discover a song about aging, regret, and all the stories we never wrote. But that’s ho...

'Politics Girl' Shreds Spineless Senator Cassidy Over Blanche Vote

We all knew this was going to happen.

Todd Blanche narrowly confirmed as Trump’s attorney general in overnight vote:

The Senate confirmed Todd Blanche as attorney general in a vote early Saturday morning, cementing President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney’s command of a Justice Department the Republican president has sought to bend to his will.

The Republican-led Senate voted 50-49 to make Blanche the second confirmed attorney general since Trump returned to the White House last year with a stated desire to use the law enforcement agency to investigate his political enemies. While Blanche has already been leading the department in an acting capacity, his confirmation could free him to pursue the Trump administration’s agenda even more aggressively.

Friday Night Funnies: Futurama

Futurama consistently made me laugh, especially in its first run.

People:

Created by Matt Groening, the Emmy-winning animated comedy follows a pizza delivery boy who gets accidentally cryogenically frozen and wakes up 1,000 years in the future. Since premiering in 1999, the series has changed networks a few times, moving from Fox to Comedy Central before Hulu revived it in 2023.

But through it all, the show has maintained its core ensemble of voice actors, including Billy West, John DiMaggio and Katey Sagal — the latter is best known for her roles in Sons of Anarchy, 8 Simple Rules and Married... with Children.

We’re Seeing Stars

The Senate is the real uphill battle in the 2026 Pie Fight. Every senate race matters, and frankly Texas keeps breaking our hearts.

I think James Talarico might be one of those once-in-a-generation talents. This is a Master Class in positioning and framing, and he does it with Texas charm:

James Talarico: The young people here might not remember this, but those of you who are a little older might. Not so long ago, you could afford to live a good life here in America.

But today that middle class has disappeared.

The top 1% put the American Dream behind a paywall.

Team Talarico (@teamtalaricohq.bsky.social) 2026-08-06T02:33:55.302Z

“The top 1% put the American Dream behind a paywall” positions economics in perfect context for the generation that grew up on the internet.

Mamdani Smacks Down MAGA Mike's 'Marxist Democrats' And 'Mini-Mamdanis' Slurs

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday hit back at House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) over a fearmongering social media post in which the Republican warned of “radical Marxist Democrats” determined “to destroy the very foundations that make us the envy of the entire world.”

During a press conference, the democratic socialist mayor was asked to comment on the post, in which Johnson said the US was in danger of “being overrun by mini-Mamdanis” if Republicans lost control of Congress this fall.

Mamdani responded by speculating that Johnson’s post was in reaction to the victory of Abdul El-Sayed in the Democratic US Senate primary in Michigan on Tuesday.

Noting that El-Sayed campaigned on a slogan of, “Money out of politics, money in your pocket, Medicare for All,” the mayor questioned why Johnson found such promises so threatening.
