Released version 4.1 of Micro.blog for Mac, adding a new photo picker for attaching photos in new posts. Also updated the Bookmarks pane for Micro.blog Premium to add tabs for highlights and saved links.

Updated the built-in Sumo theme to the latest version for new users. We are also going to be migrating to a more recent version of Hugo, slowly.

Added a new “Manage Payment Methods” button under Account → View Subscription, to remove old credit cards that Stripe still has on file. There’s also a “Remove Unused Payment Methods” button to wipe everything else out except the default card or bank info.

Last month our EU hosting provider had an outage that caused us to redirect some traffic to the US to avoid downtime for serving photos from the EU. For photo uploads that weren’t copied to the EU during that time, we’ve restored them. All CDNs are back to normal. 🇪🇺

Redesigned the web timeline links like Reply and Bookmark, adding a new “…” menu with more options including Edit for your own posts and Mute Conversation. Also improved the reply editing page and lots of other tweaks.

Apologies, there were a few brief errors just now as we were rolling out some new features. All good now.

Updated the standalone pages editor on the web to match the Markdown highlighting of the new post editor. Also added photo upload and the toolbar style buttons.

Fixed blog post summaries to allow both <!–more–> tags and custom summaries at the same time. Updated the help page with better documentation for how to use this in Hugo templates.

We are rolling out some security improvements to OAuth and scopes, for both official apps and third-party apps. I don’t expect things to break, but if anyone notices a problem, please email us. The help page about auth has also been updated.

Updated the web editor to use a lighter font weight for some links and tags, for better readability.

Fixed video playback in the timeline to not cause the size to change. Also better support for poster frames coming from the fediverse.

Fixed using new book detail pages on your blog from the bookshelf reading list pages too. Also added an export link for the Manage Paths feature.

We’ve relaxed how strict the text escaping is for replies. For example, HTML img tags now work in replies. (By design there’s no image button, as we still expect most replies to be text.)

Fixed the right side of timeline text cut off at some screen sizes, especially on iPad.

Added new bookshelves setting “Link books to detail pages on your blog” to use a page on your blog instead of the micro.blog domain. To start with, enabling this setting will create book pages on your blog for new or edited posts, until a full blog re-publish happens.

We’ve released updated versions of Micro.blog for iOS and Android, fixing bugs and redesigning the sign-in screen.

Updated the style of the sidebar, fixed problems with popup menus, and improved dark mode for highlights in Bookmarks on the web (for Micro.blog Premium).

Improved the web timeline for photo galleries to include them in a horizontal scrolling pane like the apps.

For Micro.blog Premium subscribers, significantly improved the thumbnails for new websites saved under Bookmarks → Links.

Updated cross-posting to support Bluesky’s new limit of 10-minute videos, for Micro.blog Studio subscribers.

An update on the EU downtime: photos should be loading again now. While our hosting provider fixes the issue, your blog will be served from both European and American servers. Thanks for your patience.

Restored working Libby sync. When setting it up in Libby, you’ll need to click on other apps (such as Sonos) to get a code. To get started in Micro.blog, on the web click Bookshelves → “…” → Import.

For new error and warning logs, if you have AI enabled we now rephrase the logging to be more readable for people not familiar with Hugo. There’s a “Show Message” button on hover to reveal the original log.

More improvements to the Logs page, so that it reloads with new log entries without reloading the whole page, and a new row color to note when blog publishing is done.

A new version of Epilogue for iOS is now available in the App Store with a faster bookshelves popup menu.
