🎧 Nightmare Logic – Power Trip
🎧 Axe To Fall – Converge
For some reason, this is the album from their discography that I had been drawn to first. And I absolutely love it!
Converge were so impressive live a few weeks back, I had to get more into them. And it’s absolutly rewarding once you do. So many interesting ideas and songs on this album. Plus the musicianship is top notch. And that sound!
The whole thing is so damn heavy! And in a different way than I’m used to from - say - Death Metal. A ferocious steamroller.

This was good! A great cast. Credible characters. Some gruesome moments. A story with twist and turns. And a fantastic action fight scene. Only that ending spoils it a little (they kiss!? What?!).

🎬 Everything Everywhere All at Once

Ok, I do not quite get the grand hype around this. It’s good, though: it’s like a modern or different take on Matrix. With a similar philosophical theme. It’s pretty funny in parts. The fight scenes are quite good. Dialogue is good. But it’s a bit long: the whole universe-switching gets a little distracting towards the end. But overall I can certainly recommend this!

Laufey - From The Start
Laufey is a singer and songwriter originally from Iceland. She studied piano and cello as a kid. When she was 15, she was a guest soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, and that’s when she started writing songs. While she was still a student, she had a number one hit on Icelandic radio. Her first album debuted at number one on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist chart. Laufey was Spotify’s most streamed jazz artist of 2022. Her second album, Bewitched, came out in September 2023. And her new album just broke Spotify’s record for the most streams of a jazz album in a single day. And for this episode, I talked to Laufey about the breakout hit from that new album: a song called “From The Start."

🎬 Pig

I liked the overall theme and vibe of this movie. It's nicely filmed and Nic Cage is great. It could've been more focused and could have had more bite. Good!

Maybe if you manage to sympathise with the protagonist, you will feel different about this. But I didn’t, and so I found this pretty boring.
The end was really unexpected, though (which is a plus in my book).
