Solar Eclipse 2026

The plan was to go to Lewes, meet friends and then sit atop a west facing hill and watch the partial solar eclipse. Fire A13 I got in my car about 14:00 and headed to East Sussex. When I turned on to the A13 there was a massive plume of smoke and it looked like Jenkins Lane ...

Eclipse

Is it possible to be in awe and have no idea to what extent until you look back? I think this is what I feel now, looking back on the solar eclipse that happened an hour and a half ago or so. “Isn’t it amazing that this happens?”, I said to everyone who joined this evening’...

Impressions; museums

On my desk there is a painting of Monet’s “Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies” 1 that I purchased when I was on holiday last year. I wanted to bring something back that I could put in my living space, something that would both be a memory of the trip but also a work of art i...

Wow! I have a blog now!adfa ba adsfasdfsdfdsafasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfsdf

Oh hi there, hello and welcome! I started a blog! On my website! For the whole world to read my thoughts. I won't lie, it's a bit scary for me to share my thoughts on the internet. It's the internet after all and I'm not too keen on confrontation and: Words are hard.

Perspectives

“What would this painting by Titian have looked like four hundred years ago?” I always find myself asking myself new questions – and noticing details I have never appreciated before – when I visit galleries. Some of this comes with my studies. I saw a portrait in the entranc...

how the poem slows

how the poem flows
words — all in sight.
how the poem shows
mirrors — reflections of light.
how the poem knows
conditions — ours alike.

Music; electricity

As I approached the top of one of the many long staircases from Cockburn Street to the Royal Mile, I felt an electricity in the air. The street was full; shows happening everywhere as part of the Edinburgh Fringe festival. People were handing out fliers to fill crowds. I alw...

🎬 Father Mother Sister Brother

A lovely film about the relationships between parents and their kids, and some of the different ways this can go. It’s really not happening much. But I don’t know; Jarmusch always entertains me. And having three movies in one is fantastic: you can just spot all those little details and similarities among them without “having” to watch another one of his films. So, mix all the Jarmusch ingredients, multiply by three, serve them on a single plate, and Bob’s your uncle!

I sure have watched this back in the day. But I couldn’t remember much. And I certainly did not see the uncut version. Anyhow, this was suspenseful and sexy and psycho with a great story. Reminded me quite a bit of Hitchcock. And it has just the right amount humour. Loved all the car chases. And Sharon Stone’s character and acting is just perfect.

🎬 Mission: Impossible

Movie poster for “Mission: Impossible”.

So, I finally got to see that famous vault scene where Tom Cruise hovers over the ground. And that scene was indeed very cool. But overall, I found this to be a little boring. Maybe because I found the premise to be quite low-stakes, especially in relation to how many people of their internal force are sacrificed. And the end action sequence is ridiculous.
