Yesterday, I opened Discord to a message from my friend Bastian Allgeier that I had never quite seen in all the years I’ve been building sites with his Kirby CMS. “Today we are releasing our biggest security release in the last 14+ years,” Bastian wrote. “The last few weeks ...

HWC DUS April is behind us. Daniel told us about his (CSS) color palette and color spaces deep dive. And about emojis and the plain symbol version of those. So here’s some links to the things we talked about:

Next event: Beyond Tellerrand on April 27, 2026 – April 28, 2026 at Capitol Theater, Düsseldorf.

The Notwist

Tonight I went with friend Oliver (of Pixel Pioneers fame, buy a ticket) to The Garage Highbury corner to see a band that I’ve never heard and never heard of. I went on Oliver’s recommendation as I know that we have similar tastes in music, plus he wanted someone to go with.

The band in question was The Notwist an indie rock band from Munich Germany. The Guardian recently described them as indietronica legends. I would describe them as Post Indie Rock Noise Machines.

There were 7 or 8 members of the band, 10 during one of the encores, and over 30 instruments including:

  • Saxophones
  • Sousaphone
  • Squeeze boxes
  • Xylophone
  • Glockenspiel
  • A fluorescent green recorder
  • And all the usual band instruments

I love discovering new bands and artists, they certainly did not disappoint. Thank you Oliver!

Butterflies

I like to walk quickly. One of my childhood friends did, too. Whenever I reflect on the pace at which I walk, I think of the times when we tried to walk as fast as possible. My friend was much more athletic than I – with longer legs, too – so they often had the edge in walkin...

I enjoyed James’ thoughts on what life ...

I enjoyed James’ thoughts on what life in the Indieweb means to him. For me, it feels the same but less. Less writing, less reading, less programming less community. Less, but still plenty enough. And being on my way to Indieweb community IRL is the icing on the cake.
