I have several ideas swirling around for projects I would like to see happen. Sometimes, these ideas manifest as a project. Wonders of Web Weaving was inspired by my interest in having more discussions about the indie web. Other times, ideas make their way onto this blog to s...

They showed this at the local cinema, the Atelier. I always enjoy a good studio documentation - especially one of such an interesting band and one that's as well done as this one. And I'm very glad no one fell off that roof, WTF!?

I wanted a Coen movie, I got a Coen movie. Absolutely hilarious. And another fantastic cast. They were all a delight to watch, but I probably liked John Malkovich's performance the most. Also loved the idea with the CIA guy reporting those summaries of what had happened. Clever and funny.

Distinguishing user and system content

When I was designing the inline message to indicate a link in a user’s Artemis reader has been flagged as malicious, I intentionally designed the system message and state to be distinguished from the user-set author name. Here is what the final design looked like: The Artemi...

JUnited 2026

In recent weeks, I have been talking with a lot of people about personal websites. In so many of my discussions, I mention that one of the reasons I love coming back to my personal website is the community around the indie web: people all over the world sharing what interests...

Creative spaces

In her love letter to creative spaces, Britt appreciates “anywhere that is welcoming to the big table full of slightly chaotic artists who might make a mess of their carpet from time to time.” Reading through the article brought to mind memories of a table in my school that f...

Waiting; writing

I love to write while I am walking around in the world. I keep a digital notebook in which I write down what I observe: sights, sounds, scents; emotions, hopes, dreams. The smile I see as two friends embrace each other in a hug as the person who has been waiting patiently at ...

Home

I remember I was on a trip a few years ago to a place I had wanted to visit for years. Toward the end of the trip, I said to someone that I “missed the poetry” of home. I had come all this way to a place I had dreamed of, had the best of times, and heard the most wonderful of...

Milk chews

Since I am thinking about delicious Scottish treats this evening, I thought this would be an apt time to write about another of my favourite Scottish sweets: milk chews. A packet of milk chews. The left side of the tube of milk chews has a blue background with the label "Milk...

The caramel log

I have been a long-time lover of Tunnocks Caramel Wafers, made in Uddingston (near Glasgow), Scotland. Made with alternating thin layers of caramel and wafer and chocolate, Caramel Wafers are among my favourite biscuits. But today I learned of a Tunnocks product I had not yet...

Ja, war voll ok. Hatte ein paar gute Sprüche, Situationen und Gags in guter alter Stromberg-Manier im Programm. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger.

Have rewatched this after a looong while. And the first time not dubbed. Still so so good and so funny. Every scene is perfect. The cast and their performances, the dialogue… One of my favourite movies of all time.
