Their little suites with a bedroom and kitchenette were perfect for my weekend needs.
During this trip, I got frustrated when I made an order in a local business I expressed asked for them not to give me something, Mentioned it three times, asked them to confirm, But brought it back with me to the venue I was at and low and behold…The thing I asked them not to give me. This is like when I go to a restaurant and ask for a my drink with no ice and no lemon and one of those things shows up. I normally don’t write about such things…but I told this story several times to people and I was told that if I told the same story 3 times, it needed to be on my website. So here it is.
I found out why it was harder to get a hotel this weekend in San Diego. Apparently, the American Society of Hematologists is having their annual conference and exhibition. I spent over an hour trying to get a ride out of the airport, surrounded by people with conference swag. Not sure how many attendees, but 32,000 people attended last year according to their site.
Determining Good Syndication Defaults
I’ve been very reluctant to set defaults for syndication, making options be selected each time instead. This is a bit problematic because I like to reduce friction.
The issue is that I don’t want them to be global. I want them to be a bit more granular.
For example, a hallmark of a note for me is that is doesn’t have an explicit title. Maybe I want all notes to go to all services that support them unless I say otherwise….
I am worried about a mistake I made years ago involving importing old posts… so the code needs to check the published date and not post anything old automatically.
Responses to URLs on a syndication site should automatically go out to that site…but not necessarily to other sites.
I had a discussion about this with my Indieweb associates at IndieWebCamp San Diego and I’m still not sure what I’ll end up doing.
I’ve been diverted to Las Vegas unexpectedly due weather. Joy.
Have been doing a lot of different things lately. 3D printing, organizational stuff, and an unexpected side trip to Ireland for work with an interesting new project to work on there. Makes me fear I’m neglecting my website. So many things I want to do here and with the code that powers it.

🎬 My Old Ass

One of those watches that I didn’t plan to join. But then Aubrey Plaza appeared as the hallucination old ass of the teenage protagonist’s younger self to tell her about what’s about to come, while she was in the woods with friends taking mushrooms. Unfortunately this didn’t continue as exciting. It’s pretty much a love story. Not really bad, but relatively conventional, which I found a little disappointing given that surprising beginning.
🎬 Blink Twice

I liked how this looked. And I think the story had potential. But towards the end it gets more and more bonkers and I’m less and less convinced by plot and performances. Was ok.
Taking an unexpected last minute work trip. Nothing like 4 days at an airport hotel…

Still reflecting and listening to how different folks are reacting after the US #election results. 🎬 The Killer

Well, this was not so much up my alley. Some, or even lots of sequences, might have been meant in a humorous way, but I really couldn't tell. On the one hand, it has these super cheesy relationship and friendship scenes. And on the other, it has endless gun fights and car chases, that were not all that inspiring. Apart from the final fight, which was ok. Not quite my type of action film.
🎬 Re-Animator

Quite the movie, and quite up my alley. It could be a little more fast-paced IMHO, but other than that, there's lots of silly fun to be had: all that gut and gore, the fights, and so much more in that grandios finale. And that loose head. If you like splatter movies, you'll definitely like this one!
🎬 Terrifier

Uff. Mixed bag. Very mixed bag. Mixed black trash bag. Plot is partly eye roller and difficult. And sadly not all that suspenseful the more it gets towards the end. It feels long, too. Some of the gory scenes are actually well done, although some are very over the top and too much in the wrong kind of direction for my tastes. But what makes this worth it, IMO, is Art The Clown: he's really well done - really creepy and evil. His makeup, the way he's moving, that he doesn't make a sound. He certainly has potential to become a new infamous evil horror figure. I'll watch the next ones, just to see how this develops.
