🎬 Arrival

Movie poster for “Arrival”.

Wow. I wasn’t prepared for this much emotion. Much respect Mr. Villeneuve, what a beautiful film! Visually, sonically, emotionally. And the story really comes together nicely in the end. And Amy Adams plays her role so brilliantly! I could easily watch this again once I'm prepared for another onslaught of sadness.

WOFF Has Left the Building

In a recent project, the web fonts I bought and downloaded were only available as WOFF2 files. Staring in disbelief at the unpacked folder full of WOFF2 files, I wondered: Why did they not include WOFF files as well? Isn’t WOFF still needed? Or is it finally time to ditch WO...

🎬 The Return of the Living Dead

Movie poster for “The Return of the Living Dead”.

If you see past the partly questionable acting, this is a lot of fun. Quirky, gory, funny with a hint of seriousness and menace. Effects were great! I’m not sure if I like running and talking zombies, but I enjoyed this overall.

🎬 The Square

This one makes you think. There’s a lot going on, and I felt like it wants to say a lot. A bit too much maybe. I found his a bit long, yet still interesting. I enjoyed Force Majeure and especially Triangle of Sadness more.

🎬 Bronson

Movie poster for “Bronson”.

In the beginning, this had me excited to see where this is going. But then it’s a lot of the same throughout the film without much progression. But maybe that’s the point!? I don’t know. It’s indeed insanely well acted and very funny at times. And it’s certainly quite unique in how it’s filmed. Maybe this needs a rewatch.

Pointing Fingers

Don’t use your finger!” Regardless of which country and school system you grew up in, chances are you have heard this sentence at least once from one of your teachers. I, for one, remember my elementary...

🎬 Triangle of Sadness

Movie poster for “Triangle of Sadness”.

This was a wild cruise! An a damn entertaining one! Nothing too subtle going on: just bunch of filthy rich idiots getting what they deserve. Muahahaha. The captain’s dinner is incredible. With Refused’s "New Noise" as the perfect Soundtrack. In den Wolken!

The music section for the most part now features the Bandcamp embed instead of the one from Spotify. I find this to be much better, because you can listen to a whole album, even without account. And I actually prefer Bandcamp and have been using it more and more lately.

🎬 Rear Window

Movie poster for “Rear Window”.

Haven’t seen this in a long time. Was inspired to rewatch it by apodcast episode about it. Again liked it a lot. It’s remarkable, howwell this has aged in my opinion. The dialogue, the filming; thesupposed crime is actually pretty violent (you don’t see it, but theytalk about it). It’s an all around well-rounded affair. And it'sprobably worth another rewatch given all the little details in it.

🎬 Down by Law

Not Jarmusch’s best film, but entertaining none the less. RobertoBenigni was the best in this one.

Good Riddance, GPTBot

Just like Google is constantly indexing the Web, OpenAI is now crawling the open Web to scrape content from websites for free to train their LLM (lucrative language model) “AI” products.

But, as I learned from a post by Ethan on Mastodon, you can disallow GPTBot to get its tiny robot hands on your writing by adding those two lines of code to your website’s robots.txt:

User-agent: GPTBot
Disallow: /

Good riddance, GPTBot! 👋

Lovely little episode-movie. Great humour (oh, the scene, where she’strying to make him laugh!), choreography (the plane in the window in thefirst shot of the second episode), visuals and soundtrack!

🎧 Mutants – Mutoid Man

Their new album. This band really became a favourite during the last year or so. This output again immediately puts a smile on my face. So much fun playing and singing going on. An authentic sound. So good. Need to see them live!

🎧 Bloodmoon: I – Converge

It’s not far from Mutoid Man to Converge. And then their latest album is a collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe!? Sign me up! This seems to be atypical, but I like this a lot. A great album front to back!
