Glad I don't depend on Airtable.

Do ants eat feathers? I mean, protein, right? This crow feather was whole when I noted it by the entrance to an ants' nest on Monday. Today it seems half eaten, although it has barely moved since Monday. Could the ants have taken it apart and down into their nest?

I was at one of the local museums last weekend, because it was the last day of their exhibit on "clouds in art", that I'd been wanting to check out since March.

At the museum, I took pictures using a kids camera that instantly prints on thermal paper. I got this because Max had one at IWC Nürnberg and I thought it was cool — he also has a cool post about a thermal printer camera project, you should check that out.

It turned off before I got through the whole exhibit because it was out of batteries, so for the other exhibit they had going on I have pics I took on the phone. In the end I had a really long spool of badly rendered monochrome representations of the art.

Raindrops cascade from the skies in straight lines, watering the ground left dry after July. Since the rain started falling again, the plant outside has been growing well. Will it blossom again this year? Can plants blossom twice in one year? I hope to see the pink petals again, but, if nothing else, I have the memories of its colours from earlier in the season. I went for a walk earlier today, before the rain began. I admired the puddles as I walked; collections of water after a dry season. I wore a heavier coat with a hood – to be prepared – not realising how warm it still is outside. Nevertheless I walked and continued to walk, watching the world go by, revelling in the welcome watery weather.

Having been away from home for a bit, and with nobody here to keep the crows coming by, it took a few days to reestablish our relationship. Truth be told, I'm still not that good at identifying individual birds to be able to say with any certainty that they are the same birds. Nevertheless, they're crows alright. And they like peanuts in the shell. And while some are quite timid, others are bold enough to visit when no peanuts are visible and wait until I produce some. So yes, we each have the other fairly well trained. I knew a highlight in the eye would improve the image. And of course just sitting there with the camera, other opportunities present themselves, like this collared dove entirely unsure what to make of the offering.

🎦 watched “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” in the Metreon Dolby Cinema this past Friday and really enjoyed it.Took a half day off to recover from a long week & last weekend, and decided to see the new Spider-Man movie. The theater was packed except for the front row.
