Kirby 4 is Here!

Exciting news: Kirby 4 is here. Upgrade now to save 20% on each license. Super happy for Bastian and the Kirby team to see the release as I know how much work it has been for them. And sooo many promising new features and enhancements. Have a look yourself.

Excited to see if my pages are easy to upgrade. A few other things to be done before I can have a look, but already looking forward to this.

On that note: there are a couple of Kirby meetups planned in Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf, in case you want to hear more about the latest version. I gonna be at the Düsseldorf edition and Basti also. We are planning to do an episode of Stay Curious for the new release also, like we did for the last version as well.

🎬 Barbie

Movie poster for “Barbie”.

Come on Barbie, let’s go party! And what a fun party this is! It deals very well with “the Barbie topic” as well as societal themes, too. But overall, it’s a an amusing film with a gimmicky set and great characters. Which are brilliantly portrayed by the cast. Watching this only once is not Kenough.

What can I say? It was great fun to watch this again with a bunch of my friends. And I would do it again.

🎬 Hereditary

This is so evil and dark. This time I wasn’t quite in the right setting, but it still gripped me once again. It’s so well filmed; the audio is great. I just feel like I don’t quite get all the symbolism, which really only is the main topic at the end. But man, the last 15 minutes is just pure horror.

🎬 Top Gun: Maverick

Movie poster for “Top Gun: Maverick”.

This was better than the original. The action is ridiculously good. It’s still an American navy though. But I like how it relates to the original and that it at the same time doesn’t take itself too seriously. And again watched this in great company (with commentary) which made this all the more enjoyable.

🎬 Team America: World Police

Honestly, this is pretty great! It gets enough points for how this is made with marionettes. Totally over the top (or is it? ;)) and totally entertaining. America, fuck yeah!

🎬 Top Gun

I really had lots of fun watching this. If you have the right company, don’t take it seriously, it’s awesome. It’s in some way its own parody. And the action is indeed great I must say. Everything else is pretty cheesy. U-S-A, U-S-A!

Skate Aid Night 2023

Skate Aid Night 2023 just happened on Saturday. I went again and it is great to see how many people supported Skate Aid again to make kids strong through skateboarding and giving them a purpose. This time my daughter Luca joined me, which made me really happy. ☺️

Skate Aid and beyond tellerrand are partners for many years now and part of the ticket money always directly goes to Skate Aid to support their projects.

On my Way to Brighton

Before 2019 I visited Brighton every year for 13 years. Often more than just once a year. Events happening in Brighton are only a few these days. One of them is ffconf and I am looking forward to it!

🎬 Lucy

Movie poster for “Lucy”.

Puh! I’m not quite sure if this is meant as a parody. If it is: ok, but it’s really over the top with lots of CGI and unnecessary action. I don’t know. A weird one.

🎬 The Teachers’ Lounge

Movie poster for “The Teachers’ Lounge”.
This review may contain spoilers. Tap or click to view.

A fantastic story (basically) about a teacher – who seems to be the only sane adult at that school – get singled out and blamed for what’s wrong at a school. It’s tragic and Leonie Benesch plays this absolutely brilliantly. The other cast is fantastic, too. So, I liked this a lot, and for some reason I thought this could have been longer and not be so open-ended.

Jeremy Keith, one of the speakers at last weeks border:none, has written about the event Joschi and I organised. Thanks for that and thanks for being part of this little adventure.

At the end of the event there was some joking about returning in 2033. I love the idea of a conference that happens once every ten years. Count me in!

Well … see you in 2033! ;)
